Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Force shot dead a drug dealer, who was a part of a network involved in the trade of illegal substances in Malaysia, Riau, Padang, and Jakarta.

The perpetrator was identified by the initials DO and was carrying 25 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

"DO attempt to resist (arrest) and grabbed the officer`s firearm," Head of the Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Argo Yuwono noted in Jakarta, Monday evening.

Apart from DO, the Jakarta Police Drug Detective Unit also seized HW, known as Sinchan, as well as EP.

Director of the Jakarta Police Drug Detective Unit Police Chief Commissioner Suwondo Nainggolan revealed that the force had initially arrested DO at the Sentral Hotel in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta.

HW was then arrested from a fast food restaurant at the Arion Mall in Rawamangun, East Jakarta.

Meanwhile, EP was taken into custody in the Limapuluh Sub-district of West Sumatra.

He further explained that police personnel had also confiscated two backpacks containing 17 kilograms of methamphetamine that belonged to DO and eight kilograms of the contraband that belonged to EP.

The perpetrators are charged with Article 113, paragraph (2) juncto 132 paragraph (1) subsider Article 114, paragraph (2) juncto Article 132, paragraph (1) more subsider Article 112, paragraph (2) juncto Article 132, paragraph (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics.
