Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jambi governor met a summons from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday to undergo his first questioning as a suspect in an alleged graft case.

The Jambi governor, identified by his initials as ZZ, refused to speak much about his questioning as he arrived at the KPK building at around 09.55 a.m.

"Just wait," he said.

He also said he was in good health to undergo questioning.

On Feb 2, the KPK named the Jambi governor and the chief of the highway construction section of the Jambi provincial public works and housing office, identified by his initial as A, as suspects in the alleged graft case.

They have been accused of receiving gratification worth Rp6 billion related to the realization of projects in the province.

The anti-graft body charged both ZZ and A with violating article 12 B or article 11 of Law No. 31 of 1999 which has been amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 and article 55, sub-article 1 of the Penal Code.

Article 12 B of Law No. 31 of 1999 stipulates that any gratification given to a civil servant or state employee will be regarded as a bribery if it is related to his/her post and is against his/her obligations or duties.

If found guilty, he/she could be sentenced to a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 20 years in jail and fined a minimum of Rp200 million and a maximum of Rp1 billion.
