During a visit to the Pertamina Central Hospital in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, where Lagarde was also invited, President Jokowi said he was keen to highlight that Indonesia has a good health insurance program in place.
"We want to demonstrate that Indonesia has a National Health Insurance system under the name of BPJS and the Indonesian Health Card (KIS), and I mentioned that the KIS has 92.4 million members and BPJS has 193.1 million. We have given to the community," President Jokowi explained.
Both Jokowi and Lagarde had earlier met at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, before embarking on visits to various places, including the RSPP and Tanah Abang Market.
"During the meeting at the palace, Madame Lagarde urged us to see the health insurance system," he revealed.
Meanwhile, Lagarde expressed happiness on being able to visit a hospital along with President Jokowi to witness first-hand the health services offered in Indonesia.
"I am very impressed by the reach of social health services covering 90 million people by offering free health care, which is fantastic," Lagarde remarked.
She further stated that the health facilities offered were quite impressive, including the size of the room and the speed of serving patients, which includes the application of a digital system that strongly supports the digital economy.
"Bravo to the president and those who work at the hospital," Lagarde emphasized.
Jokowi pointed out that health insurance in Indonesia covers a large number of people, which means it is not easy to manage it.
"It is a big guarantee and also a good facility. The rooms are also good," he noted.
The president admitted to being aware of complaints related to health services or facilities still being received, and he believed that it is fair that such a thing had happened, as improvements continue to be made.
On the occasion, Jokowi offered Lagarde a tour of RSPP during which they held a dialog with several patients and health workers at the hospital.
