Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has said he appreciates all parties who want peaceful simultaneous regional head elections, based on good ideas and programs for regional progress and people`s welfare.

The minister remarked in a statement here on Tuesday that the regional head elections, locally known as Pilkada, should be dignified democratic festivity, free of of SARA (Ethnic, Religious, Racial and Intergroup) campaigns, hate speech, "hoax" or false news, corruption, and money politics.

Regarding the candidate of regional head who is involved in legal matters, Tjahjo affirmed that the Ministry of Home Affairs is in a position not to intervene.

Tjahjo said he himself respected the law enforcement measures taken by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Police, or the Attorney General, because they have operational standards of their respective procedures that cannot be intervened by other institutions.

The politician of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) also said President Joko Widodo`s policy insists that the government should not intervene in any decision that has been made by law enforcement agencies.

The move of KPK, which has conducted several hand-held operations and named regional heads or regional head candidates as suspects of corruption, was done in the context of law enforcement.
