Chairman of SKK, Migas Amien Sunaryadi, stated in a seminar on anti-bribery management system here on Tuesday that the eradication of bribery practice in the sector would liberate investors from any hindrance while take their decision.
"If we can eliminate bribery practice in oil and gas upstream business, investors would not be distracted while taking their decisions. This would make oil and gas business in Indonesia more attractive and would increase investment," Sunaryadi noted.
SKK Migas began to implement ISO 37001 in mid-2017 to help create a transparent and efficient oil and gas upstream industry.
SNI ISO 37001:2016 is an instrument designed to help an organization to develop, implement, and improve its anti-bribery program.
The instrument contains series of measures, controls, or procedures that need to be taken to prevent, detect, and overcome bribery.
"SKK Migas has started to integrate SNI 37001:2016 to its business process and communicate the instrument internally as well as externally," he remarked.
SKK Migas has taken some measures, including issuing regulations that underscored prohibition of bribery for SKK Migas management, employees, and outsourcing workers.
The move would be followed up through verification and proper test for all human resources in the task force.
SKK Migas has also introduced the implementation of ISO 37001 to its goods and services providers, and they would also have to pass the fit and proper test before starting partnership with the task force.
Furthermore, the task force has also socialized the anti-bribery management system to the Cooperation Contracts` Contractors, which are expected to implement the same quality standard in their respective companies.
Oil and gas upstream industry has a long business chain that involves many parties, and this would open the chance for bribery.
The implementation of SNI ISO 37001 in the task force is expected to get accreditation from the Anti-Bribery Management System Certification Body.
