"People are expected to stay calm because of the US dollar`s movement," she noted at the Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday.
She remarked that the strengthening of the US dollar affects the currency of all major countries and developing countries.
"If we look at yesterday`s movement in the last two days of both currencies coming from developed countries and developing countries, we are relatively in a better range," she stated.
Mulyani added that the public needs information to stay calm over this movement.
"Some developed countries` currencies can even depreciate above two percent. Other countries` currencies can even depreciate above that, especially India, which depreciates more deeply because they want to spur exports," she explained.
The rupiah exchange rate inter-banked in Jakarta on Thursday morning moved slightly by one point to become Rp13,923 compared to the previous position of Rp13,922 per US dollar.
