Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - Around 100 clerics and intellectuals from a number of countries gathered in Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday for a consultation summit on Islam Wasathiyah.

"Around 50 of them come from abroad and 50 pthers from home," presidential special staff for interfaith dialog and cooperation Din Syamsudin said.

They come not only from member countries of the Organization of Islamic Conference but also from countries such as Australia, Japan, Canada, Britain, the US including the presidents of Korea Muslim Federation and China Islam Association, he said.

The meeting is aimed at promoting moderate Islam that has developed in Indonesia to the world and proposong the adoption of Isla, wasathiyah as the solution of current civilization crisis in the world.

The meeting is expected to produce a "Bogor Message" agreed by the clerics and btellectusls at the meeting.

Palestine embassy councelor Taher Hamad praised the summit saying it was important to voice Islam Rahmatan Lil`alamin in view of current presence of hardline Islam ISIS ideology.

He said several Islamic countries in parts of the world have now shown Islam as rahmatan lil`alamin (as blessings to all or "Islam that brings peace to all, which is moderate and that brings goodness to all human beings.
