This target represents an increase from the Rp124.7 trillion set for 2025, even though the government has announced plans to cut coal and nickel production, as outlined in the 2026 Work and Budget Plans (RKAB).
ESDM Ministry's Director General of Minerals and Coal Tri Winarno told the press in Jakarta on Monday (Jan. 19) that the 2026 target is likely achievable, given rising prices for several key mining commodities.
"Yes, we take into account the pricing trend. After all, prices are on the rise, right? We are witnessing increases in tin, nickel, gold, and several other commodities. Let's hope the target will be achieved," he said.
Winarno expressed confidence that the non-tax revenue target will be achieved through the government’s efforts to strengthen supervision and improve governance in the mineral and coal sector.
"Beyond the pricing trend, we will work to enhance supervisory and governance aspects," the official emphasized.
He added that the government has also devised alternative strategies to mitigate the impact of potential price declines.
Ministry data showed that non-tax state revenue from the mineral and coal sector last year reached Rp138.37 trillion (over US$8 billion), surpassing the Rp127.44 trillion target set in the State Budget.
Overall revenue from the ESDM sector in 2025 stood at Rp243.41 trillion (US$14.3 billion), falling short of the Rp255.5 trillion target.
Earlier, ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia announced that Indonesia will reduce coal production to about 600 million tons in 2026, nearly 200 million tons lower than the 790 million tons produced in 2025.
He explained at a press conference in Jakarta on Jan. 6 that the policy aims to stabilize global commodity prices. Global coal trade currently stands at around 1.3 billion tons per year, with Indonesia contributing about 514 million tons.
He also noted plans to cut nickel production, though the scale of the reduction has yet to be determined.
