Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla left for West Sumatra Province on Wednesday, for working visits to the state universities of Andalas and Padang (UNP).

Kalla was accompanied by an entourage comprising among others his spouse, Mufidah, Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education M. Nasir, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimujono, Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arcandra Tahar, and Fahmi Idris, chairman of the Funding Council of Andalas University.

Their plane departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta, at 7:30 a.m. local time.

In the University of Andalas, Kalla will officially open the Fifth Scientific Annual Meeting and Disaster Research (PIT-RB), and an entrepreneurship event involving 3,500 students.

The university will also confer a "Life Time Achievement" award on Kalla for his dedication to humanitarian efforts during natural and social disasters.

Jusuf Kalla is the first person to receive the award.

In the State University of Padang, Kalla will receive an entrepreneurship award from all higher education schools in West Sumatra.
