Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A Lion Air Boeing 737-900ER aircraft has delayed departure from the Hasanuddin airport of Makassar to Surabaya on a woman passenger joking about bomb in her luggage.

"A woman identified as ST, when about to put her bag in the cabin rack on Saturday, told a cabin officer that she carried a bomb in the bag," Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang Mandala Prihantoro said here.

ST said later that she was only joking, but the joke made airport security officers, the pilot and the crew members of the aircraft busy rechecking the aircraft to ensure that there was no bomb. They searched the 207 passengers, their luggage as well as the cargoes, but they found no bomb or anything suspicious.

Finally the aircraft was allowed to take off at 18:55 or a delay of 1 hour and 20 minuted from its original schedule. The aircraft landed safely at the Juanda airport of Surabaya at 19:30.

The management of Lion Air handed over the case of ST, to the airport authorities for further investigation.
