Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian third president B.J. Habibie returned to Indonesia after undergoing treatment for leaky heart valve in Germany and became a speaker during a national dialog by Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT).

"I just returned from the hospital and had requested to not be disturbed, but this event is important," he noted here on Wednesday.

Habibie, who wore a cream-colored suit, was assisted by two paspampres, as he walked up the stairs to the podium to deliver his speech.

"I sought help to walk up the stairs, as I am 82 years old. It is hard for me even if someone asked me to run," he made the statement at the BPPT auditorium to which the audience laughed.

Habibie spoke for some 40 minutes on science and technology while addressing the participants of the dialog.

Although Habibie had just recovered from his illness, he still spoke with huge passion and motivation.

In addition to Habibie, Indonesia`s fifth president Megawati Soekarnoputri was the speaker during a dialog themed "Improving Innovations in Science and Technology to Encourage the Domestic Industry to Realize Pancasila Economy."

The former president had earlier complained of tightness in the chest during his visit to Germany on February 27, 2018. He was then taken to a hospital in Munich.

He was diagnosed with a leaky heart valve condition, causing water to accumulate in the lungs due to which he experienced breathing difficulties, and his blood pressure had shot up.

Habibie`s health condition improved after the installation of a mitral clip for treating his heart condition.
