Sukabumi, W Java (ANTARA News) - The Minister for Social Affairs, Idrus Marham, has set a target to make Indonesia free of social ills by 2019 and called for support from all parties, especially local governments.

"Government must be there for the community to eradicate social ills by implementing various approaches and training," he said during a visit to Sukabumi district, West Java province, on Friday.

In fact, the programme to free Indonesia from the shackles of social ills by 2019 has become the main agenda of the ministry. Therefore, the Minister will often visit communities to find out the problems in each region.

The Minister said local and central governments should work together, and his party needed the right mechanism. "We need other strategies that are more than just rehabilitating the sick, including people with psychiatric disorders, and commercial sex workers," he said.
