Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (GMF) signed contracts with new customers, Novoair of Bangladesh and Bangkok Airways of Thailand, in the first quarter of this year for the maintenance of their planes at its hangar.

"In the first quarter, we managed to get two customers. They are Novoair of Bangladesh and Bangkok Airways of Thailand," said the GMF AeroAsia President Director, Iwan Joeniarto, here on Wednesday.

This success was a concrete step to increase non-affiliation income, he said.

In the first three months of 2018, the subsidiary of the national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, participated in various international forums to attract new customers. These were the Singapore Airshow 2018, MRO East Asia, and International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP).

The company was also trying to penetrate the South and East Asian markets which offered huge business opportunities. "The markets there are still wide open for us to offer our products," he said.

GMF also received new certification from the civil aviation authorities in Bahrain, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Nigeria.

The Directorate of Aircraft Airworthy and Operation also issued certification for the maintenance of Boeing 737 Max planes.
