Lhokseumawe City PMI Chairman Junaidi Yahya noted on Monday that such act could not be tolerated, as the medical staff is working only on humanitarian grounds and not to join the war.
"We strongly condemn the shooting of Razan Al-Najjar by military personnel while he was working as a medical personnel. This is a form of war crime and cannot be tolerated anymore," he stated.
Yahya noted that currently, 123 medical personnel serving in Palestine were shot at and bombed. In fact, it is already classified as a war crime and is a gross violation of human rights.
Lhokseumawe PMI urged to properly enforce the International Humanitarian Law and to ensure respect and protection to medical personnel included in the International Red Cross or Voluntary Union.
"The Geneva Conventions I of 1949 in Article 24 stipulates that members of the health department employed specifically to seek or collect, transport, or care for the wounded and sick, or to prevent diseases as well as the staff employed exclusively for the administration of unitary and health buildings must be respected and protected under all circumstances," he asserted.
