On the second day of his working visit to South Sulawesi on Tuesday, the president and First Ladi Iriana will observe the progress of the dam`s development process.
Paselloreng in one of three new dams being built in South Sulawesi. The two other dams are Karalloe in Gowa District and Pamukkulu in Takalar District.
Presidential Secretariat Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media Bey Machmudin in his written statement remarked that the construction of Paselloreng, Karalloe, Pamukkulu dams in South Sulawesi will increase water reserves of 261.23 million cubic meters, one of which is to increase the supply of irrigation water in South Sulawesi, known as one of the national food centers.
Paselloreng dam began to be built since mid-2015 and will irrigate the land area of 7,0000 hectares.
The maximum capacity of the dam is 138 million cubic meters or 9 times bigger than East Nusa Tenggara`s Raknamo Dam with a capacity of 14 million cubic meters which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo early 2018.
The Passeloreng Dam is one of 9 dams that will be completed by 2018, in addition to Rotiklod Dam in East Nusa Tenggara, Tanju, Mila and Bintang Bano dams in West Nusa Tenggara, Gondang and Logung dams in Central Java, Sei Gong dam in Batam, and Sindang Heula dam in Banten.
Before observing the Paselloreng dam, the president will gain firsthand information about the implementation of cash-for-work program of the Ministry of Public Works and People`s Housing in Mappadaelo and Tanasitolo sub-districts in Wajo District.
At noon after lunch together, President Jokowi and the first lady will be flown by Military Super Puma helicopter from Wajo District to Hasannudin International Airport in Makassar to return to Jakarta.
The president is scheduled to arrive back at Halim Perdanakusuma airport in Jakarta on Tuesday evening.
