Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, (ANTARA News) - Telecommunication operator PT Telkomsel is building one thousand Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) to support the smooth communications between Asian Games participants in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, in August-September 2018.

"We will build BTS at Asian Games venues, where athletes and spectators will be active. This is a form of our contribution," Telkomsel`s Director for Sales, Sukardi Silalahi, said here on Wednesday.

He made the statement on the occasion of the Asian Games 2018 Torch relay in Kota Tua Ampenan, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Wednesday.

The Asian Games torch parade event, which started from Kota Tua Ampenan to NTB Governor office, was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan, NTB Governor TGH Muhammad Zainul Majdi, and Mataram Deputy Mayor Hoham Poliskana.

Silalahi stated that his company will build BTS 5G, which is the latest telecommunication technology. The technology will make it easier for spectators to watch the trailers of a sport event.

"The technology we are preparing will also help the traveling athletes who access the app, including the visitors at the Asian Games," he noted.
