"We are facilitated by Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises and Cooperatives (SMESCO) to be able to market excellent products from North Sulawesi in Jakarta to support the international sporting event of the Asian Games," Igirisa remarked here on Saturday.
SMESCO, a public service agency under the Ministry of Cooperatives, currently manages over 1,800 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from all over the archipelago.
Hence, Igirisa noted that SMESCO has prepared numerous special stands for the products of SMEs from Manado, North Sulawesi.
"We will utilize the opportunity offered by the Asian Games, as it is a place to find new markets," Igirisa remarked, adding that she will invite some other SMEs in the province to showcase their leading products in Jakarta during the international sporting event.
"We will bring a wide range of food and handicraft products from North Sulawesi," she revealed.
At the Asian Games exhibition this time, North Sulawesi will showcase derivative products of fishery, such as "abon roa" and "skipjack," results of coconut-derived food, and other household products, including kawangkoan nuts and bagea.
"I hope the leading products from North Sulawesi would be favored both in local and national markets," she stated.
Igirisa said at the time that SMEs are preparing the products, as the demand is quite high.
In addition to SMESCO, SMEs from North Sulawesi will occupy the stand at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, or The Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature - TMII.
"Hopefully, the Asian Games event would run smoothly, and the SMEs would be able to derive benefits from the event," she remarked.
The 18th Asian Games is a regional multi-sport event to be held in Jakarta and Palembang on August 18-September 2, 2018.
