Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned power utility company PLN for Jakarta and Tamgerang distribution has expressed its readiness to support the implementation of the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta.

"We will prepare electricity supplies for Asia`s biggest sporting events, so that the Asian Games would run smoothly," PLN Manager for Jakarta distribution, Muhammand Ikhsan Assaad, said here on Wednesday.

According to him, the electricity supply will be channeled to a number of venues in the areas of Jakarta, which will be used during the Asian Games.

"The electricity supply will be distributed to all arenas, especially in Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Senayan, which will be the central point of the event," Assaad noted.

Furthermore, he remarked that the electricity supply will also be channeled to hotels that serve athletes, especially Wisma Athlete (athlete housing), Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

"The power supply to Wisma Athlete is still small. The generators available are only able to turn on the lights in the hallway alone," Assaad explained.

Meanwhile, he revealed PLN`s plan to add power as well as reserve electricity in each arena of the game by providing as many as three additional generators.

"We will provide three generators, so that there will not be power cut during the games, which can be embarrassing," he revealed.

Meanwhile, he added that his side has conducted electrical checks throughout the arena of the match. A rehearsal has also been carried out to ensure there is no power failure during the game. *** 4 ***
