Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Secretary General of Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Ahmad Muzani said that the vice presidential candidate who would accompany Prabowo Subianto in the 2019 Presidential Election (Pilpres) had converged on two names, which would be discussed again with coalition political parties.

"The talks were held on Sunday (Aug 5) to determine the name of the vice president who will accompany Subianto," Muzani said here on Monday.

But Muzani was reluctant to mention the two names, and currently, the coalition political parties are conducting talks to decide on the two names.

He also remarked that his party would continue to discuss with parties outside the coalition political parties, in order to be able to provide support because of the possibility that the decision of the vice president would be taken at the end of the registration period for the candidate-vice presidential candidate.

"We cannot confirm the date yet, but hopefully, it will be faster. Surely, this conversation must be done with greater patience, because we should have the patience to listen to everything," he remarked.

Muzani said that the two names were being discussed with four coalition political parties, namely Gerindra, Democrat, PAN, and PKS.

He explained that Gerindra wanted four political parties that were committed to jointly support Subianto in the 2019 presidential election.

"We will be patient to listen to the explanations, as it is part of diplomacy," he noted.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Board of Gerindra Party Fadli Zon remarked that the names of the vice-presidential candidates who would accompany Subianto in the 2019 Presidential Election had converged on three names, namely Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Salim Segaf Aljufri, and Ustad Abdul Somad.

"We have at least three names of candidates for the vice president. For example, Democrat AHY, and Ustadz Salim Segaf and Ustadz Abdul Somad, who were the recommendation of scholars," Fadli revealed at the residence of Prabowo Subianto, Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta, on Wednesday (Aug 1)

He explained that PAN had proposed the name of Somad, but it had to be discussed together. This is because PKS had proposed Salim Segaf and Democrats had asked AHY even though SBY did not name.

But Fadli believes that the three have the capacity and are able to communicate with all people, including young people.
