"The date for registering the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs has already been opened since August 4, 2018," he said after reviewing the Asian Games XVIII - 2018 Infrastructure Readiness at the Venue Layar Jaya Ancol Park, on Monday.
The head of state, commonly known as Jokowi, reiterated that the date for registration is already in his hand and is reluctant to give a clear answer when asked about the date of registration of his pair to the KPU.
Instead, Jokowi just smiled and dodged that only he knows the exact date. He also has not explicitly revealed the person who would be his vice president.
"I have already told you that the registration has been opened from Aug 4 to 10. It means that it is only a matter of time for the registration. Please be patient to know the date when it is to be done," he stated.
Jokowi did not want to explain whether he would declare his vice president first and then register with the KPU or directly register with the KPU without announcing his vice president.
"It could be announced before registering, and the direct list could be announced later," he revealed.
The General Election Commission opened the registration of candidates for president and vice president on Aug 4, 2018, with the registration opening at 08.00 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The candidate pair is registered by a political party or joint political party, as a bearer, so that the presidential and vice presidential candidates who will contest do not need to be present during the registration with the KPU.
