Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA News) - The tourism office of Palembang city in South Sumatra is preparing numerous festivals to enliven the Asian Games from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018.

The festivals of art, culture, culinary, and traditional games of children will be presented during the Asian Games to entertain the guests and participants of the international sporting event.

Palembang Tourism Office spokesman Isnaini Madani remarked here on Tuesday that the momentum of the Asian Games will be utilized optimally to introduce the tourism potential in Palembang, known as the "Land of Sriwijaya."

The Asian Games, to be jointly hosted by the cities of Jakarta and Palembang, will become the focus of attention of the world community.

Hence, the mainstay attractions and numerous festivals in Palembang are prepared and introduced to the athletes, officials, and guests attending the Asian Games.

In its effort to welcome the athletes, officials and guests, the Palembang Tourism Office is trying to make various preparations so as to give so as to give positive impression and lasting memory for them.

When the Asian Games participants, officials and guests gain positive impression and lasting memory, they can tell it to their friends and family members upon returning to their respective countries.

In the meantime, Palembang Regional Secretary Harobin Mastofa has ensured the readiness of a number of mainstay tourism objects to welcome the Asian Games.

Benteng Kuto Besak area, other historical heritage buildings such as the Ampera Bridge, the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum of Palembang, the Perjuangan Rakyat Monument (Monpera), and the Musi River water tourism.

Especially for enjoying water tourism, numerous boats have been provided so that the visitors can use to navigate the Musi River to Kemaro Island.
