Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee 2018 (INASGOC) has signed a deal with Qatar Airways to become a sponsor of the multi-sport event scheduled to be held from Aug 18 to Sept 2.

The agreement was signed by INASGOC Chairman Erick Thohir and Qatar Ambassador Ahmed bin Jassmin Al Hamar, witnessed by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, here on Thursday.

Thohir stated that Qatar Airways has agreed to provide US$6 million fund for the event.

"This has reflected public confidence on the implementation of Asian Games in Indonesia," he noted.

Qatar`s Air Force, he added, would also provide aircraft to transport 40 horses taking part in the horse racing event in the Asian Games.

He remarked that Qatar Airways would provide a full sponsorship and it would be given a space in the advertising board of the football stadium. Qatar would host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Al Hamar revealed that the deal reflected close bilateral relations.

Kalla explained that Qatar Airways` sponsorship would support the multi-sport event and, at the same time, promote the airline`s services in Asia.
