Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party (PD) Roy Suryo said his party remains committed to the coalition supporting Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto.

"The general chairman of PD did not attend the events when leaders of the parties, in coalition, gathered at Prabowo Subianto`s residence on Thursday evening and Friday morning. This did not mean that PD is not committed to the coalition, but the absence was due to the fact that PD was holding a Supreme Council meeting," Suryo said in Jakarta on Saturday.

He noted that PD did actually not arrive late, but should now decide upon a careful and accurate decision based on its formal procedures.

The very important decision is to be made by the PD Supreme Council (MTP). It should not be made by the general chairman, himself. It was only at 10 a.m. local time on Friday that the MTP make the decision.

The general chairmen of political parties in the coalition had gathered at Prabowo Subianto`s residence at 9 a.m on Friday at Kertanegara Street, Kebayoran Baru. But the Democratic Party general chairman was absent because there was a MTP meeting, according to Suryo.

"After a decision was made, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono immediately came to the General Election Commission (KPU) and jointly signed the registration form on the presidential and vice presidential registration," he said.

Suryo asserted that the KPU did not require the coalition parties to go together, but only to come to the KPU and sign the registration file.

At that time, Roy Suryo also praised the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). "In every action and in decision making, Mr SBY is always calm and careful. Thus, he is smart in making a decision that needs no more corrections," he said.
