Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The 7th World Peace Forum (WPF) will seek to adopt some outcome document that might be named "Jakarta Messages," after the city where the dialogue will be held from Aug 14 to 16, an official said.
"In the end, we are looking for some outcome documents; maybe, we can call it `Jakarta`s messages` or I do not know; maybe, it is because of its coincidence with the Asian Games and maybe, we can also call it as `the energy of peace`," Special Envoy of Indonesia`s President for Interfaith and Inter-civilization Dialogue and Cooperation Din Syamsudin noted here on Monday.
While referring to Indonesia`s Asian Games tagline "Energy of Asia," Syamsudin said that the forum was aimed at creating a similar spirit in proposing a concept called "The Middle-Path for the New World Civilization," which encourages balance and moderation.
"Some people state that the world today is shifting to a disastrous civilization, indicated by intolerant behavior, civilian conflicts, climate change, and even food security and energy crisis, as we are implementing too much anthropocentric policies," he remarked.
The special envoy acknowledged that the United Nations has started to address the crisis through the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which now has advanced into Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but he thought that it was not a fundamental solution.
"For us, this has not been a fundamental solution. What we are proposing is to address its roots more through the middle-path concept, as the world now is still adopting some extreme path, such as liberalism," Syamsudin noted.
However, Syamsudin has not revealed the details of the middle-path concept yet, as it will be discussed during the forum, in a bid to find some real actions to implement the middle-path concept in the economical, political, social, and culture fields.
During the forum, there will be a special session on the historical background of some ideologies. The participants will then go forward to find some ways to implement the middle-path concept in economical, political, social, and culture fields.
Hundreds of participants from various backgrounds will attend the forum, which was created in 2006, including tens of prominent persons from some countries, such as Chairman of European Council of Religious Leaders Bishop Gunnar Stalsett from Norway, Adviser to the Palestine`s President on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash, and Australia`s former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to name a few.
Indonesia`s President Joko Widodo is scheduled to open the forum and deliver a keynote remark on Tuesday.
