Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The men`s handball team of Bahrain defeated the South Korean team, with a score of 27-25, in the group`s first round match of the 2018 Asian Games held in "GOR POPKI" in Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon.

Bahrain coach Aron Kristjansson told reporters after the match that since the first round, his team members appeared to be superior, despite a 13-11 goal difference.

"In the early minutes, we managed to break the goal of South Korea. But they succeeded in chasing the score. We are trying to replace some left-wing and right-wing players in order to produce more goals, but their (South Korean) goalkeeper was really good," he remarked.

In the second round, the South Korean goalkeeper frightened Bahrain`s team, because it (South Korean) always thwarted the throws made by Husain Alsayyad and his teammates.

South Korean goalkeeper Changwoo Lee managed to thwart about eight throws from Bahrain players, he explained.

The victory enabled Bahrain to reach the top position of the provisional standings, with 4 points, while South Korea had 2 points.

In the meantime, South Korean coach Shin Young Cho admitted the greatness of Bahrain. He claimed that despite the preparations made to fight Bahrain since long ago, the team lost in the end.

"(Our) next rival is Iran. We will prepare better, so that we can gain full points from the match," he added.
