Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chinese Taipei female lifter Hsingchun Kuo won a gold medal in the in the 58-kilogram class of weightlifting at the 2018 Asian Games which took place at the JI Expo, Kemayoran, Jakarta, late Thursday.

The lifter managed to lift 235 kilograms, from 105 kilograms in snatch and 130 kilograms in clean and jerk.

The silver medalist in the class was Thai lifter Sukanya Srisurat, with a total weight of 226 kilograms, which she achieved from the snatch class of 103 kilograms and clean and jerk of 123 kilograms.

The bronze medalist was Mikiko Andoh Lifter from Japan, with a total weight of 218 kilograms, from snatch weighing 91 kilograms and clean and jerk weighing 127 kilograms.

The Indonesian contingent, represented by Lifter Acchedya Jagaddhita, only ranked fifth, with a total weight of 208 kilograms, from snatch weighing kilograms and clean and jerk weighing 115 kilograms.

The Chinese Taipei lifter in the clean and jerk force has a third chance of trying to break the 140-pound Asian Games record of Chinese lifter Chen Yanoing and plans to surpass the senior Asian and world record in his own name, weighing 142 kilograms, by trying to lift a 143-kilogram barbell.

All the people who were present at the weightlifting arena wished he could lift the force. Although he failed, he still received applause from the audience.

"Unfortunately, he failed. He tried to succeed in breaking the record here," Putri, one of the spectators, remarked.
