Jakarta (ANTARA News) - China and Japan performed mightily in the elimination phase of the 2018 Asian Games 3X3 men`s basketball group, maintaining their reputations as unbeatable teams.

The Chinese men`s team is in group A, along with Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The Chinese men`s team emerged as Group A winner, after winning four preliminary rounds.

Group A`s runner-up is Thailand, and will accompany China to the final eight rounds.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian national team (Timnas) is in third place, followed by Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

The Japanese men`s team also ensured that they won group C with five wins, out of the five matches that had been played. Qatar`s team is runner-up, with four wins.

The battle for the top two positions still continues in group B, which has just finished two matches.

For Group B standings, the first rank was carried by the South Korean team with two wins, followed by Chinese Taipei with one victory, then Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia with one victory and, last, Bangladesh with no victory.

In addition, competition continues in Group D, which places Iran and Iraq in the top positions.

The other four teams, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, still have the potential to win the top two positions.

The advanced match of the men`s 3x3 basketball group B and D phase will take place on Saturday (Aug. 25) at the Tennis Center Court arena in Senayan.

The competition for the top two positions is ongoing in group B, which has just finished two matches.
