Competing at Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang on Saturday, the Indonesian shooter, who is familiarly called Tera, scored 380 points. He was four points behind North Korean shooter Myong Won Pak, who won the gold medal with 384 points.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal was won by Yu Gan from China, with 379 points. Tera appeared very calm since the qualifying round.
His success in winning a silver medal was quite surprising, because his opponent was a world class shooter, just as Myong Won Pak was the 2010 AG gold medalist in Ghuangzhou, China.
In stage 1 of the final, Tera`s first shot missed, so he only received 7 points. However, his remaining shots scored high points, allowing him to continue to stage 2. Only gold winner Myong Won Pak appeared more consistent from the start, striking more high-value targets.
"Points in this match only dropped 2-3 points from the results of Pelatnas training, which were still within reasonable limits. That`s what we expect, when under pressure, that the difference in points should not be large," said shooting coach Masruri.
Tera admitted that she was very grateful, because in the previous match on the 10 meter individual running, she failed to enter the finals, even though she had topped the qualifying round on the first day.
Having topped the qualification, Indonesian shooters failed to enter the finals. "Yesterday was history, Alhamdulllah (thank God) today I can perform better," said the 21-year-old shooter.
With this victory, Indonesia won one medal in the shooting competition, after the seventh day match. *** 4 *** (E002/INE)
