"I hope the inauguration of new TNI leaders will make the military more solid and professional, bolstering its capacity to deal with various challenges," Maharani said in a statement released Sunday.
She delivered the remarks during a ceremony at Suparlan Airfield in Batujajar, West Bandung District, West Java, marking the expansion of the military's structure.
Maharani reminded TNI soldiers of their duty to protect the nation and to promote peace amid ongoing global geopolitical tensions marked by armed conflicts.
She stressed that the military's strength lies not only in weapons or defense equipment but also in the dedication and integrity of its personnel.
"It is important to ensure that the TNI remains an institution the people can rely on," she said, reaffirming the DPR's commitment to supporting the military through its legislative, budgeting, and oversight roles.
Dressed in a camouflage suit, Maharani attended the event alongside President Prabowo, People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani, and Regional Representative Council (DPD) Speaker Sultan B. Najamudin.
During the ceremony, Prabowo inaugurated several military leaders, including General Tandyo Budi Revita as TNI Deputy Commander — a post vacant since 2000.
The President also promoted the chiefs of the Army's Special Forces Command (Kopassus), the Marine Corps, and the Air Force's Rapid Action Forces Command (Kopasgat) to three-star generals, changing their official titles from komandan to panglima, which denotes a higher strategic command role.
The term panglima is also used for the highest-ranking commander of the TNI, a position currently held by General Agus Subiyanto.
Prabowo also announced the creation of new military units, including six Army regional military commands, 14 Navy regional commands, and three Air Force regional commands.
