Jakarta 25 (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta III State Assets and Auction Service Office (KPKNL) will confiscate assets of companies that have arrears or have not paid their obligations to the Social Security Administrator (BPJS) for Employment, as part of fulfilling workers` rights.

Kebon Sirih Jakarta Employment BPJS, in a press release here on Saturday, handed over data of dozens of recalcitrant companies to KPKNL III.

The companies have problems with arrears in the labor social security program contributions.

Data file submission was carried out by the Head of the Kebon Sirih Jakarta BPJS Branch Office (Kakacab), Tonny WK, to the Head of the Jakarta III KPKNL, Dharma Setiawan Hardjowikarto, at the Jakarta III KPKNL Office, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (Aug 25).

Hardjowikarto stated that the delinquency of a number of Employment BPJS companies were not due to financial difficulties but because of their stubborn attitude towards labor regulations.

The companies consider the cost of protection for employees as a burden and not as an asset. "There are even large companies that have not yet fulfilled their obligations," Hardjowikarto noted.

He urged the companies to be wiser in understanding the aspects of employment. "Workers must be seen as the assets of a company," Setiawan remarked.

According to him, companies must understand that the protection of labor is a noble duty and is a mandate, and debt contribution to the BPJS Employment is a violation because of the risk it poses to the protection of rights for workers.

He promised to take firm action as per the provisions if the companies continue to be stubborn.

"In addition to confiscating collateral or assets underwriting debts, auctions, and issuance of State Receivables While Unbilled (PSBDT), KPKNL also has the authorities to prevent debt guarantors from traveling abroad, gijzeling, and blocking of assets and valuable letters to bear the debt of the employer, "he explained.

Tonny handed over data of 15 Newly Delinquent Companies (PMI) to the Jakarta III State Assets and Auction Service Office (KPKNL).

According to him, there are at least 80 PMIs, but in its development, 21 companies have completed the contribution arrears. "There are 19 companies that pay in installments and 25 that have not paid at all," Tonny revealed.

In the near future, the Kebon Sirih Jakarta Employment BPJS, together with the Jakarta III KPKNL, will inspect the recalcitrant companies.

"The goal is to provide a shock therapy, in order to create a deterrent effect on the recalcitrant companies," he added.
