Tai who was also placed as the first seed did not experience significant difficulties when having to get rid of Japanese single Nozomi Okuhara in the quarterfinals on Sunday, with a score of 21-15, 21-10 in 33 minutes.
In the semifinals, Tai will face Indian women`s singles Saina Nehwal who won two straight games over fourth seeded Thailand Ratchanok Intanon 21-18, 21-16.
Tai is the bronze medal holder of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games women`s singles and this year also featured as an Asian champion.
Meanwhile, Saina who is currently ranked 10th in the world is the 2012 Olympics women`s singles bronze medal holder.
Tai and Saina were recorded to have met 16 times and 11 of them were won by Ying who is now ranked first in the world.
In fact, the last nine meetings were won by Tai in a row.
Their last meeting took place in the Asian championship and Tai won in two straight games.
Meanwhile, Chou made his way to the men`s singles semifinals after beating Hong Kong men`s singles Ka Long Angus Ng in two straight games 21-18, 21-18 in 47 minutes.
In the semifinals, Chou will face Indonesian men`s singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who defeated fifth seed from China Cheng Long 21-19, 21-11.
Ginting and Chou were recorded to have met four times and three of them were won by the host players. At their last meeting in the 2018 Indonesia Master, Ginting had to play three games before beating Chou.
"I don`t want to be grandiose first if I can win and have the chance to create an `all Indonesian final`. One by one first. In the semifinal match, you still have to focus on the game, "said Ginting.
