Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Two Indonesian female gymnasts Nabila Evandestiera and Wahyu Putri will compete in the individual rhythmic gymnastics final at JIExpo Hall D, Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon.

Putri and Evandestiera will compete in four categories of equipment: hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon.

The duo are members of group B and will compete with 10 other female gymnasts from Malaysia, China, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Thailand, and Mongolia.

There are two groups -- group A and group B -- in the final round wherein each group has 12 gymnasts, who will compete in four apparatus: hoops, balls, clubs, and ribbons.

Earlier, during the qualifying round held at the same place on Monday (Aug 27), Evandestiera was ranked 22nd of the 29 gymnasts, who took part, with a score of 36.350 points, while the Princess was in 26th position, with a score of 34,200 points.

In rhythmic gymnastics, the first gold was won by the Kazakh women`s gymnastics team in the team category held on Monday (Aug 27).

Of the four apparatus competed in, Kazakhstan scored 159,850 in hoop, gaining a total score of 48,750; ball, 49,150 points; clubs, 46,700; and ribbon, 15,250.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan bagged a silver medal, with a score of 155,300, while South Korea won a bronze, with 151,100 points.

Indonesian National Gymnastics Team Manager Dian Arifin stated that Evandestiera and Putri`s performances had to be enhanced again.

"We have to improve it again. We are also quite far, but if for Nabila`s performance, there are more flight hours than Putri`s, only the technique needs to be maximized," Arifin stated at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Monday (Aug 27).

In addition, he pointed out that Indonesian rhythmic gymnastics needed foreign coaches in order to compete with other countries.

"The problem is that I see that all of us have used foreign coaches, Thailand and Malaysia. I see that I have to use coaches from European countries," Arifin noted.

At the 2018 Asian Games, Indonesia has won two medals in artistic gymnastics through female gymnast Rifda Irfanaluthfi and male gymnast Agus Prayoko.

Irfanaluthfi won silver after successfully finishing second in the final round in the women`s floor exercise category, whereas Prayoko managed to occupy the third place in the final of the men`s vault table category.
