Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained 22 members of the Malang City Legislative Council (DPRD) after naming them suspects for allegedly receiving gratification.

"The suspects are being detained at several detention houses for the first 20 days," Chief of the KPK`s Media and Publication Section Yuyuk Andriati said here on Monday.

Five of the 22 suspects are being detained at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police`s detention house, six at the KPK`s detention house at the Jakarta Regional Military Command`s Military Police, five at South Jakarta Police Resort`s detention house, five at KPK`s detention house (building K4) and one at the Central Jakarta Police Resort`s detention house.

The 22 legislators were named suspects on Monday.

They have allegedly received gratification or pledge related to the revision of the Malang city budget of 2015.

The alleged graft case surrounds the 22 legislators` approval of the revised city budget of 2015, KPK Deputy Chairman Basaria Panjaitan said in a press conference here on Monday.

Based on the results of investigation including witnesses` testimonies, letters and electronic documents, the 22 legislators have allegedly received fees amounting to Rp12.5 million to Rp50 million each from then Malang mayor, identified by his initials as MA, he said.

Prosecutors have demanded that MA be sentenced to three years` imprisonment, fined Rp200 million or face another six months in jail, and deprived of his political rights for four years.
