The torch arrived at the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) office at around 2pm welcomed by hundreds of athletes who would compete in the event.
It was handed over to the president of NPC Indonesia, Senny Marbun by the general chairman of Indonesia Asia Para Games Organizing Committee (Inapgoc), Raja Sapta Oktohari before it was paraded across the city towards the City Hall where it would be kept before being taken to Ternate in the eastern province of Maluku to be involved in the National Spirts Day commemoration on September 9.
Several officials and artists were involved in the parade as bearers including the chief of staff of the Diponegoro Regional Miltary Command, Brigadier General Ahmad Lutfi, artists Bertrand Antolin, Gusti Mung, city mayor Hadi Rudyatmo and coordinating minister for human development Puan Maharani.
Senny Marbun expressed pride the torch called at the NPC Indonesia office. "This may boost the spirit of NPC Indonesia athletes to compete to be the best in Asia and promote Indonesia," Marbun said.
Bertrand Antolin also expressed his pride to be chosen as one of the torch`s bearers.
"I was personally asked by the Inapgoc chairman to do it buy more than that I did it in Solo which is to me very special," he said.
He said he believed the results of the recent Asian Games 2018 putting Indonesia in the fourth rank would give special spirit to the country`s disabled athletes.
