"Indonesia also offers funding schemes for climate change projects," Deputy Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa remarked here on Thursday.
The statement was delivered during the second Senior Official Meeting (SOM) for Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) here on Thursday.
The meeting aims at discussing blue economy, marine pollution including marine plastic debris, sustainable fishing, and climate change effects.
The AIS forum will be a development platform and complement collaboration and cooperation.
Delegates invited to the meeting included senior officials that have technical competency related to maritime issues, especially in the field of maritime affairs, tourism, and the environment.
The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs of Indonesia and the United Nations Development Program have held the second SOM for AIS on September 6-8, 2018, in Jakarta.
The meeting invites 46 archipelagic and island nations from across various regions.
The forum is intended to be a follow up to the previous meeting held last year. Singapore, Palau, Mauritius, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, St Kitts and Nevis, and the United Kingdom are among countries invited to the second SOM AIS.
