"People must still be able to make use of the arenas that were previously used for matches at the Asian Games. So, there must be access (to sport arenas)," Head of Jakarta`s Sports and Youth Affairs office (Disorda) Ratiyono said when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.
He also said although the 2018 Asian Games have come to an end, a number of arena matches that have been built must continue to be utilized so that the buildings are not damaged and abandoned.
Therefore, the city`s Sports and Youth Affairs office will regulate access in such a way that the community can use the arenas.
"(The sport arenas are necessary), especially for people who can`t afford (the sport arenas), as Anies Baswedan (Governor of DKI Jakarta) has advised us to pay more attention to marginalized communities. Of course, that will be our concern," Ratiyono explained.
"We don`t want (the sport arenas) to be used only by rich people, while those who can`t afford to, cannot use them. Therefore, the rules must be made in advance so that their terms of usage are clear," he remarked.
Thousands of athletes and officials from 45 Asian countries took part in the 18th AG, which were held in Jakarta and Palembang (South Sumatra) from August 18 through September 2.
