"Of course, Thohir will learn a lot about politics, and he has to plan because he has a lot of teams. Certainly, I will also provide my experiences and guidance," Kalla remarked here on Monday.
He noted that Thohir was indeed swerving; if he had previously led and managed the sports and media world, he would have managed the political campaign team.
Hence, the experiences in managing the big teams will greatly help him to carry out his duties in leading the political campaign team.
Kalla remarked that the campaign is basically to make the presidential and vice presidential candidates even closer, then to be liked, and to be elected because that was the principle of the campaign.
The vice president explained that the election of Thohir as team leader of the Jokowi-Ma`ruf National Campaign was due to his ability to lead large teams.
"I think Pak Jokowi is looking for people who are able to lead big teams, and Thohir has already been accustomed to leading large teams at home and abroad," he elaborated.
Incumbent President Joko Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, has picked Muslim cleric Ma`ruf Amin to be his running mate for competing with the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair in the coming presidential race.
He has also named Thohir as his national campaign team chairman.
