Medan (ANTARA News) - A suspected member of an international drug syndicate was shot dead by an officer of the National Anti Narcotics Agency (BNN) in North Sumatra.

Head of the North Sumatra BNN Brig.Gen. Marsauli Siregar said here on Monday that the suspect, identified by his initial as Byk, resisted arrest last Wednesday and tried to escape forcing the officer to shoot him.

The suspect was shot on his back and he died on the way to the police hospital in Medan, Marsauli said.

BNN succeeded in arresting seven other members of the syndicate and confiscating 2 kg of crystal methamphetamine, and seven bottles of acetone.

The seven suspects were identified as MA (the owner of the drug domiciling in Bekasi), ZK, MR, ZL, IS , MM and RZ .

The suspects are all members of an international drug syndicate selling the crystal meth smuggled from Malaysia.
