Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said the financial reports of regional administrations winning a notation of unqualified opinion (WTP) in five consecutive years have correlation with performance in development.

"State funds including transfer to the regions are an instrument to achieve the development targets to improve the welfare of the people, and the human resource quality, and to reduce economic lopsidedness," Sri Mulyani said addressing a National Meeting of Accountants and Government Financial Reporting here on Thursday.

The minister said there were eight provincial administrations granted the WTP notation in five successive years from 2013-2017.

The provinces include Yogyakarta, Gorontalo, West Java, South Kalimantan, Riau Islands, West Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sumatra.

Development performance in the 8 province was above the national average during that five year period in term of economic growth, unemployment rate, index on human development and Gini ratio.

The economic growth rate in the 8 provinces averaged 5.96 percent or higher than the country`s economic growth rate of 5.09 percent on the average in the five years period.

Unemployment rate in the 8 provinces average 5.28 percent better than the national unemployment rate of 5.88 percent.

Their human development index averaged 69.86 or higher than the country`s human development index of 69.55 and tehir gini ratio averaged 0.402 or better than the national gini ratio 0.418, the minister said.

"I am pleased that it turned out that the WTP indicators, which are expected to be the indicators for the financial management in the regions and the center, have correlation with the ultimate goals we want to achieve," Sri Mulyani said.

She said she hopes that the WTP indicators offset the potential of poor financial management including corruption.

"Many regional administrations have been granted the WTP indicators but corruption is going on. From January to July, there were 19 heads of regional administration named corruption suspects by KPK (the Corruption Eradication Commission)," she said.
