Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice presidential candidate of the presidential-vice presidential candidate pair No. 1 Ma`ruf Amin expressed keenness to meet with Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) supporters on a special occasion.

"I will meet them on a special occasion. In general, at various forums, it (a meeting with them) is normal. There needs to be a special meeting," Amin stated at the home of Jalan Situbondo No.12, Jakarta, Monday.

Amin expressed eagerness to meet the supporters of Ahok after receiving the initiator of the National Volunteer Supporters of Ahok, Nusron Wahid, on Monday morning.

Amin noted that during his meeting with Wahid, he was informed that Ahok`s supporters had delved into the vice presidential candidate`s past as former chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) during which Amin opined that Ahok had blasphemed the Islamic religion.

"They harbor suspicions when they looked back at my past as chairman of the MUI. It was said that Ahok volunteers felt something (inconvenient). For me, there is nothing wrong. For me, anyone must get along with all parties for the integrity of the nation. Thus, I want to meet them specifically. I am very happy. Moreover, I want to meet all people," he added.
