"We need a lot of tents. Clean water is limited. We need electricity for the well pump. Therefore, we will ask for gensets from these donor countries," Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto said here on Monday.
In addition, Indonesia would also receive help in the medical sector.
"Field hospitals, medical teams; we will use any help we receive toward that, and fogging, to anticipate the possibility that corpses will not be buried soon and would spark diseases," he remarked.
Currently, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Abdurrahman M Fachir, is working on coordination with the donor countries.
"The Deputy Foreign Minister met with ambassadors of the countries, which have prepared or offered help. They will discuss the issue. I will wait until tonight," Wiranto said.
Eighteen countries have offered help for the victims of the 7.4- magnitude earthquake and tsunami in Palu and Donggala.
"The 18 countries are the United States, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Norway, Hungary, Turkey, the European Union, Australia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, India and China.
The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has also offered help.
Wiranto said the decision to receive international assistance has indicated the country`s openness to cooperate with any country.
"President Joko Widodo`s visits to foreign countries were aimed at enhancing bilateral, as well as multilateral ties. We appreciate all this help," Wiranto said.
