Purnomo is currently in the spotlight because in addition to winning two gold medals, he also broke the Asian record of 100 meters T37.
"Stay grounded and keep being the Sapto Yogo that I have been developing so far," Sanyoto said in Jakarta on Tuesday night.
The coach of the Indonesian National Paralympics Committee also hoped that Purnomo would continue to focus on developing his achievements rather than sinking into fame.
At the age of 20, Sanyoto believed that Purnomo could sharpen the record of his running time, while achieving brilliant achievements in the future, including being able to compete in the Paralympics.
"My message to Sapto Yogo is don`t stop being an athlete before appearing at the Paralympics," he said.
The athlete hailing from Banyumas, Central Java, was previously only targeted to grab a gold medal from the men`s T37 100 meters running number, which is indeed a mainstay.
While in the 200 meter T37 run, where Purnomo also won the gold medal, the Indonesian team coach actually predicted silver.
"At present, Sapto`s performance is really at the top. His performance in the 100 meters is special. But I believe he can run faster," Sanyoto said.
Purnomo succeeded in securing a gold medal at the T37 100 meters run at the 2018 Asian Para Games on Tuesday (October 9), with a time record of 11.49 seconds, while breaking the Asian record of 11.51 seconds owned by Chinese athlete Yongbin Liang, who was booked at the Paralympics in 2012, London, England.
In the competition held at the Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta, Purnomo was the best after defeating Iranian Davoudali Ghasemi who recorded 11.97 seconds and was entitled to the silver medal and Saudi Arabian athlete Ali Alnakhli with a time of 12.01 seconds who won the bronze medal.
The T37 men`s 100 meters gold medal was Purnomo`s second gold in the 2018 Asian Games para-athletics after he also became the best in the men`s T37 200 meters on Monday (October 8).
Thus, for these two gold medals, Purnomo is certain of getting a bonus totaling Rp3 billion from the government.
The runner from Central Java has the opportunity to increase the medal purse because he will still appear in the 400 meter T37 run number and 4x100 meter relay.
Although it was not expected to be a gold medal, Sanyoto dreamed that Purnomo could return to give the best.
"Hopefully, his colleagues and him will get maximum achievements in the two numbers," said Sanyoto.
