Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has stated that rehabilitation and reconstruction programs in Palu, Donggala and some areas in Central Sulawesi will begin in early November 2018.

"The rehabilitation and reconstruction programs are scheduled to start in early November 2018, which means the emergency response period will end at the end of October 2018," Head of BNPB`s Information Data Center Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said at a press conference here Wednesday.

Nugroho added that the rehabilitation and reconstruction programs were in accordance with the direction of Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Nugroho said the evacuation is expected to be completed on October 11, 2018. Thus, the total number of days the evacuation will last will be 14, exceeding the regulation of the National Search and Relief Agency that the evacuation should be carried out for 10 days.

"At present, the emergency response is still ongoing, but the evacuation of victims will be stopped on Thursday, October 11, 2018," he noted.

He said the victims who had not been found after 11 October 2018 would be declared dead. However, if there are people who need help to find their families, then the government will help them.

The government is also still calculating the value of loss and damage due to the disaster, and the amount of funds needed for the rehabilitation and reconstruction programs.

Meanwhile, basic needs for refugees, such as health services, logistics distribution, emergency school services, and temporary housing construction will still continue until the end of October 2018.
