"The financial literacy and inclusion campaign is very important to make the public, particularly potential customers, aware of their rights and obligations," Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto said here on Saturday.
He said the Makassar city administration fully supports the activity themed "Synergy to Encourage the Acceleration of Financial Access".
Most people only know the banking industry in general, particularly when they want to open savings accounts, he said.
"Many people put their money in bank deposits but they do not understand their rights and obligations as customers. Hence, the organizing of the literacy expo will be able to educate the public in the financial sector so they will not miss the progress in the financial service system," he said.
Hopefully, the event will make Makassar stronger, particularly in the financial field.
Chief of Regional OJK 6 Zulmi said the event is aimed at disseminating and optimizing financial inclusion programs through a financial product expo.
Additionally, the event is also aimed at making the public aware about financial products and services, he said.
