Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - The first days on Wednesday of the international Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2018 held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) in Banten Province was marked with the signing of 44 trade and investment contracts.

The trade contracts were valued at US$5.19 billion consisting of trade transaction at US$513.97 million and investment at US$4.68 billion, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said here on Wednesday.

"This is a new record. In the first day of TEI 2017, trade transactions were valued only at US$231 million," he said.

The investors are from Thailand to invest US$180 million in real estate project, and US$4.5 billion in information technology facility.

The trade contracts were signed with those from South Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, France/Austria, China, the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, Thailand, Chile, Singapore, Malaysia, the United States , the Philippines , Brazil, Britain, Germany, Egypt, Nigeria, Italy, Hong Kong, Taiwan, United Arab Emirate, Iraq, and Japan.

The trade Ministry said transactions during the TEI is expected to reach US$1.5 billion this year.

In the past there were only 68 trade contracts signed during TEI .
