Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Amelia Achmad Yani, has emphasized the government`s commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

"Indonesia`s bilateral relationship with Bosnia-Herzegovina has been going very well, and so it needs to be enhanced. In my first year of service, until now, I have been very well received by the people of Bosnia-Herzegovina," Yani stated here on Wednesday.

The ambassador delivered her remarks after witnessing the signing of a cooperation document on information exchange between the Indonesian News Agency, Antara, and the Bosnia News Agency, Fena.

Yani has set up concrete efforts to improve bilateral cooperation in various fields.

According to her, in the information field, the Indonesian Embassy in Sarajevo has facilitated a meeting between Fena and Antara to exchange information and data.

"I am very excited to start this cooperation program. We will exchange journalists between the two countries. I will invite Antara to go to Bosnia, and if possible, we can make a book about both countries," she remarked, adding that Bosnia-Herzegovina has strong ties with Indonesia.

"There are already two books on Indonesia written by Bosnia-Herzegovina citizens. The first book is about Yani and the second book is about the Indonesian Embassy in Sarajevo. This means that there is a very strong bond between the two countries," she remarked.

Meanwhile, in the field of education, there are four Bosnia-Herzegovina universities that will work with the University of Indonesia and General Achmad Yani University.

The four universities of Bosnia-Herzegovina are the University of Sarajevo, Tuzla University, Zenica University, and the University of Mostar.

"I hope there will be a student exchange program in which Indonesian students can live in Bosnia to learn the local language and cultures for three to six months. Likewise, Bosnian students can learn Indonesian language and cultures," she added.

Cooperation in the field of education also includes lecturer exchanges to share knowledge and experiences.

"The majority of departments in the universities of Bosnia-Herzegovina are medicine, engineering, and nursing. The University of Indonesia and General Achmad Yani University also have departments in medicine, engineering, and nursing. Universities in both countries can share their knowledge and experiences," she elaborated.

In the trade sector, Yani noted that there were five Bosnian-Herzegovina businessmen participating in the 33rd Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI).

The TEI will take place at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition, Tangerang, Banten, from Oct 24 to 28, 2018.

"There are five businesses from Bosnia-Herzegovina who are participating in the Trade Expo Indonesia. Among them, there are those who seek fish from the Indonesian sea to be supplied to all hotels in Bosnia and other Balkan countries. There are also those who want to buy palm oil and its derivative products," the ambassador pointed out.
