Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Social Affairs is preparing the New Platform (NP) Social Rehabilitation Program 5.0 aimed at providing comprehensive services to five beneficiary clusters.

The clusters comprise Children, Disabled, Drug Abuse Victims, Elderly, Socially Challenged and Human Trafficking Victims.

"This year, the program will be implemented partially, and next year, we will fully carry it out," Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs Edi Suharto noted in Jakarta on Monday.

He further explained that the NP Social Rehabilitation Program 5.0 features new methods and approaches in offering services to the five beneficiary clusters.

He noted that in previous years, social rehabilitation services only catered to the fulfillment of basic necessities, while in the NP Social Rehabilitation 5.0 Program, two important aspects to be included are Purposive Social Assistance encompassing the fulfillment of the rights to decent living and the ease of access to services as well as

Intervention Therapies, which can take the form of physical, psychosocial, mental, spiritual, and livelihood therapies.

The program aims to increase the beneficiaries` abilities to make a comeback into the community.

"The goal of the new program is to provide comprehensive services through interventions as well as holistic and systematic therapies to increase the capabilities of its beneficiaries and strengthen their personal responsibilities, all in an effort to help them make their way back into the community," he elaborated.

He further explained that currently, five technical directorates in the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation are focusing on five beneficiary clusters: Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation, Directorate of Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, Directorate of Social Rehabilitation of Drug Abuse Victims, Directorate of Social Rehabilitation of the Socially Challenged and Human Trafficking Victims, and the Directorate of Elderly Social Rehabilitation.

In addition, the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation managed 39 technical implementation units, spread across 18 provinces, and collaborated with social institutions in 34 provinces through a deconcentration scheme.

Suharto is optimistic that with the application of the NP Social Rehabilitation 5.0 Program, all parties, under the guidance of the Ministry of Social Affairs, would work harder to make new breakthroughs in the standardized Social Rehabilitation Program.
