Madiun, E Java (ANTARA News) - Malaysia has expressed interest in train air conditioners made by the Indonesian state-owned company PT. Industri Kereta Api (PT.Inka).

Director of Inka, Budi Noviantoro, during a review of the Inka plant in Madiun on Thursday, stated that Malaysia had sent an air conditioning unit to be revised at PT Inka.

"Malaysia has sent its AC a few months ago for reconditioning. It has been sent back to Malaysia. The results were very good," he remarked.

At present, Malaysia is considering reconditioning or purchasing new train air conditioners with a domestic component level of almost 100 percent, he added.

"It is not only a good place for buying new ACs but also reconditioning them," he noted. It is believed that 260 air conditioning units will be needed for Malaysian trains from Inka, with a potential value of Rp300-350 million for one unit.

"The process is ongoing. The amount Rp300-350 million multiplied by 260 units will lead to a large amount," he explained.

Noviantoro estimated that the project to buy or rebuild the train air conditioner will begin next year.

The Inka-made train room air conditioner is named I-cond, which previously had to be imported from a Japanese company Toshiba.
