With 50 companies doing their IPO through BEI in 2018, the stock exchange institution recorded a new history in the capital market industry.
"The listing of the initial shares of 50 companies this year is the highest one the BEI ever registered since the privatization of the Exchange in 1992," BEI Director of Corporate Valuation I Gede Nyoman Yetna said in Jakarta on Friday.
He stated that PT Freight international became the 50th company to register its shares. The share issuer has a security trading code of DEAL, engaged in cargo expedition activities.
He added BEI is optimistic that the number of listed companies throughout 2018 will continue to increase. At present, there are 14 potential companies in the BEI listing pipeline.
"The high number of companies listed cannot be separated from the government`s support to create a conducive economic climate, as well as the support of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to encourage companies to utilize the capital market as a place for business development," he said.
He said the BEI is always committed to encouraging an increase in the number of listed companies with various efforts, including interacting and directly playing an active role in visiting the pockets of entrepreneurs in various regions in Indonesia.
"One of the ways for BEI to implement its commitment to improving public understanding of funding options for companies through the capital market is through education in the form of workshops and one-on-one meetings," he explained.
He said BEI had conducted a one-on-one meeting with approximately 350 companies, both private and state-owned enterprises (BUMN), regional government-owned companies (BUMD) and subsidiaries throughout 2018.
