Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) has opened a wider chance for Indonesia to increase its exports to the world`s second largest economy, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said.

The outcome has shown a potential increase of export and market expansion in China, Enggartiasto said here on Thursday.

Indonesia`s booth has recorded a total transaction of US$4.74 billion during the event held from November 5 to 10, according to an official data.

"This has become an initial evidence that Indonesian products have the potential to attract more Chinese consumers. I believe this was just the beginning, because there will be more potential of cooperation in the future," he remarked.

Among the products eyed by Chinese importers are margarine, coal, plastic, coffee beans, swallow nest, palm oil and its derivatives including fatty acid oleo and oleo chemical, and the potential of cooperation in electronic goods trading.

Enggartiasto noted that the government has encouraged the establishment of cooperation with businessmen from partner countries.

"In every working visit, we always try to arrange, Indonesian delegation would not only meet with local government officials but also the businessmen. Therefore, we hold a business forum," he said.

Indonesia-China business forum and business matching initiated by the ministry and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held on the sideline of the exhibition has drawn Chinese businessmen attention.

Of the total 300 participants in the business forum, 190 of them were partners from China and 130 others were participants from 54 Indonesian companies and institutions.

The business forum has promoted Indonesia`s economic potential, infrastructure development, natural resources, human resources, to Chinese businessmen.

Previously, the minister said that the country`s trade deficit with China should be reduced further to maintain the trade balance and the growth of bilateral business relations.

"Currently trade deficit with China has declined after China increased Indonesia`s CPO buying. The business forum has also shown positive response regarding to bilateral trade improvement," he said.
